Wendy Gottlieb will demonstrate watercolor “wet on wet” and “dry brush” techniques and will have a small vase with artificial flowers to use as her still life model. Participants should have paper, watercolor paper, if possible, small watercolor palettes, available at most drug stores: CVS, etc., a container for water, and flowers or a plant to observe for the painting. Poinsettias would be great!

ADRC collaborates with Marlokia Rescue in Calverton, NY to provide a unique and inspiring Equine Therapy Program for people with Alzheimer’s disease on Long Island. Participants spend time “in the moment” with the horses, in a beautiful, natural setting in Calverton. They are guided through gentle interactions, such as petting and grooming. These activities promote connection to the accepting, friendly equine spirits. Horses are highly intuitive creatures, receptive to both verbal and non-verbal communication.

ADRC offers a weekly program, every Monday afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at our headquarters at 200 Carleton Avenue, East Islip, NY. Our fully-accessible building features a large multi-purpose room, with plenty of space for our artists, caregivers and volunteers.

ADRC’s Music Therapy Program is ideally suited for individuals with early to moderate stage Alzheimer’s disease or a related cognitive disorder. Each session runs for one hour, between 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on two Tuesday’s afternoons each month at ADRC, 200 Carleton Avenue, East Islip, NY 11730.
